mico-lucide:

My name is Mico Lucide, and this is my mom.  On July 29th, my mom had a massive stroke, leaving her paralyzed on her left side, with uncertainty of recovering movement.  She still has most of her wits about her, but the main problem is that she doesn’t have any health insurance.  Because of that, the state is taking my moms income to cover her medical bills (which is legal, because her medical bills need to be paid for some how).

Because the state is taking her money, we no longer have money to pay for the apartment we shared.  My mom is going to be in a facility for a while for recovery and transition to independent life, so we are not as worried about her having a place to stay immediately.  We squirreled away some money for her as well so that we can get her a place to stay when she gets out.  I’m in a different situation.

I’m a college student studying Pre-Law and Political Science.  I’ve been very involved on campus, and lately I’ve had to drop all of my non-scholastic and work related responsibilities, including the LGBT Alliance at my college, which has been very dear to me.  With the classes I’m taking and my current job, I don’t have the time or energy to devote to a second job. Even though I am saving as much money as I can, living on a budget of $25 dollars a week, I don’t know if I will be able to save enough to afford my own place after the semester ends.

I’ve never been the type to reach out to others for help very much.  My friends and family would say that I’m too proud to do so, and under any other circumstances they would be right.  This time is different; I could end up homeless this time, and that terrifies me.  I created a paypal account my friends and family can donate to in order to help me out.  I’m going a bit beyond that and asking Tumblr for help.  Is anyone out there willing to help me out? Even if it’s just reposting this to get the word out, I could use any help I can get.

It just takes a few bucks and a repost to help me out.  If you can only offer $10, that’s more than helpful.  From the bottom of my heart, I thank anyone who helps; from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate any concern anyone shows for me and/or my mom.

Please help. This is one of my dear friends and one of the nicest people I know. He always has a smile on his face, not matter what he is going through. And from the stories I have heard about his mom, she is one of the most amazing people on this planet.

If you can help out it would be fantastic.

I love my mom

  • My status on facebook: So I let my friend read my story for class. From the other room I hear him yell, "No! He has cancer!" Apparently someone is getting into the story. =P
  • My mom: Spoiler alert!
  • Me: This is why I love you.

Not every British voice on my computer is Dan

So I was just innocently sitting on the couch watching a Nerimon video, minding my own business.
My mom hears the video and turns around to look at me and starts laughing.
I questioned this and my mother says “I was just getting ready to say ‘hi Dan!’”
I shook my head, “Not every British voice on my computer is Dan, Mom.”
